"They" are expecting 30 F/C and 30 TAD plus that many in Top Dragster and Top Sportsman. WOW this should be one heck of a race. Fuel at the MAPCO is $2.639 with a MAPCO rewards card, credit or cash, a 22# bag of ice is around $5.00 not bad.

A lot of racers had supper at Giuseppe's Pizza last night. Ours was very good and plenty of it and the beer was cold.

Jim Roberts gets the hard work award so far. The new disks would not work. Long story short, input shaft twisted and cracked not allowing clutch to work. Installed new part all is well. Time to complete, most of the day and it was hot.

Tech and test and tune today and it's supposed to get to the high 90's. The starting line crew has their work cutout for them.

Wow they are showing a high of around 98 degrees today in Petersburg. Then super nice the rest of the weekend with low 80's Friday and 70's on Saturday. I would waste my stuff testing at 98 degrees and then having 20 degree cooler weather for the race. Good luck to everyone there.

Kudos to Jim. Showing the dedication it takes to be successful (which is NOT defined by the number of Wallys on the shelf).

If 60 alcohol cars show up you folks are in for a LONG weekend.

Well it is hot as blazes here right now. 99 degrees!! There are a few people testing, but we are not. Larry and Mr. Longhany are working on my golf cart now. It is still misbehaving! Hopefully a new carbuerator will fix it!! I have not been taking any pictures out in the heat. Not many people sitting outside their motorhomes today! And I didn't trust my cart to get me back home!! Tomorrow the weather is supposed to be a lot nicer with highs only about 80. That will sure be a welcome relief. We are all supposed to get 2 runs tomorrow and 1 on Sat, then eliminations!

More later!

Let me tell you folks - its just plain ugly here at VMP . Anyone with even half a brain is inside with the AC on ultra high ……..The few folks who are testing must be breaking in new engines cause you can't learn much in this soup ! ! ! This has been a 3 t-shirt day so far with no end in sight .

I drove to Florida a number of times from NJ and it was generally at Richmond where the hot high temps were really felt to me.

I can recall at least twice stopping for fuel and feeling the heat and when I left NJ is was very comfortable.

Way to hot !

Oh you Yankees are way to spoiled with your pleasant temps and low humidity! Today was just typical day for us down here, maybe a little above normal for October but certainly not uncommon.
