I had an NHRA Tech guy & an MSD guy come to my car, to plug into my MSD box. I assumed they did everybody's. The guy was scrolling through something (I assumed what he read out of my MSD box). NHRA guys asked "Look OK?" MSD guy says "So far". Came to me later to tell me I was OK.
I run different timing in each gear, but that's in the ECM. Used to turn the second set of points on in my old '56 Chevy's distributor, by a toggle switch tripped by my Hurst shift lever, going into second gear.

As far as cheating goes I don't think they have bounced anyone at Indy tear down in the recent few years that I can remember. That says the fast guys are not blatantly cheating. I am sure some are in the gray area as we would expect. I am one of the slow guys that qualify in the second half of the Q sheet. I know if I upgraded some of my stuff I could probably get near the top half. I could do that but I don't think I would enjoy myself any more than I do now. I still would not be a contender to win class or qualify at Indy as there are other combos that run the same class as I with more Cu/In with less weight than I have to run. Not complaining just a fact of life. As far as I know my car is 100% legal. Would be nice to see some of the older iron get some HP back to make them a little more competitive. I personally like the real Super Stock cars as opposed to the jellybean cars and modified stuff.
