I don't see Don Fezell on the sheet. Is he not there, or back on the dyno finding more power?

A 302 Ford went 179. Good lord that is impressive. What weight is that? Unbelievable

Watson's car ran 179 + early in the season hasn't run good since. Skillman's and Bo have moved the bar big time!

All of the Mustangs at Norwalk were running the 327 engine which is a new combination for 2019. It is based on the 302 block with a longer stroke. The word in the pits at Norwalk was that the 179 mph speeds were bogus because the nose of the car tripped the speed clock, not the front wheels.

Almost everything nowadays trips with the nose, pro stock, factory showdown, super classes, etc. Stock/Super Stock will if you brake at the right time. Ever look at the Funny Cars when they show the slo-mo down track? The bodies actually scrape the ground. Finish line beams are higher than start line beams.

This is true; the bogus speed would only occur if the speed trap was tripped with the wheel and the finish line was tripped with the nose.

At those speeds, a difference of about 21.5" would change the reading 5 mph if I'm doing my math correctly.

FSS has become what Pro Stock was in 1975.

Don was entered, but he withdrew before the deadline on Monday June 17. Jim D'Amore was building a 351 for Don that he expected to have at Norwalk. I don't know if the engine wasn't completed, or it was completed and he hurt it while testing.
