I along with several others from long distances were on the road. I was less than a hour from the track when the postponement was posted. The facebook post was made about parking early in the morning then the postponement after noon. I was parked at the gate in 2010 when they did the same thing. There needs to be some consideration for those who need to travel long distances to go racing. Not everyone lives close to a racetrack. I am finished with Tulsa. No more races for me there. Rick,
If you had been here during last night's round of severe thunderstorms, flooding, and tornadoes you may not have wished you were here. To say the least the weather in Tulsa has been rather dynamic this week. It was certainly not an easy call for NHRA and the track to make it was probably the best one, for the racers, the fans and the track employees. By August I hope you feel different and come and see us again. Bill Lamb Tulsa, OK |

Edit: he had a cool mustache too; The post about delayed parking went out on Tuesday. Yes, we did get up before noon to discuss the weather and options. The forecast, if anyone was looking, was calling for light showers in the evening. Shortly after 10 am it was upgraded to severe. I was not there in 2010, but please don't let the weather dampen you enjoyment for the sport. These calls are not fun for anyone, nobody wins, the fans don't get a show, the track doesn't have a show, and the racers don't get to be the show. Last edited by NHRA Trey; 05-23-2019 at 10:52 AM. |
