I would say most of the time its works well, but the times it does not are very frustrating.

9:22 eastern, still no "commentary". Somebody missed the wake-up call?! It's always "iffy" in the beginning (they had 2 days to get ready!)

Since I work with the D1TV I understand and am not as "upset" as I used to be when things screwed up. We make sure everything is up and running properly the day before we go live....and then all hell breaks loose when we hit "live stream"! We've got the latest greatest all new equipment and it still doesn't matter. For the most part the All Access product has been great this year.

The Friday audio only icon on all access works, so I have my desk top on the video and another computer on the audio and can hear and see the race.

What was it we had before where there was the camera feed and announcer sound?
IIRC that worked every single time. |

Blows my mind that they got rid of the free audio stream.

Audio feed of the track announcers. Included with membership for no extra cost. I had it on all race long in the shop. It was great. Even now when I have a streamed event on, I just have it mostly for the audio. I don't have time to sit and watch.

It's been a while since I've been in the tower reporting, but I watched the anti-computer NHRA take its first very reluctant steps into the modern age.
I doubt things have changed. Back then there was a single person responsible for connectivity and I never saw them once. Evidently NHRA contracted the job out and then paid no attention whatsoever to whether it was working or actually being done at all. So the guy would come in the day before the race, hook up his equipment, and essentially hide for the rest of the event. If it hadn't been for Phil Burgess, we wouldn't even have what we have now. He was the only one I knew who understood what the net would become, and took a whole lot of lumps talking to the those in power. They were totally clueless about what was happening and it really looked like they were a bit afraid of it also. What he was proposing (in their minds) was giving up a bunch of power, and would cost more money. Those of us who've been around the NHRA for more than a couple of months know that's pretty much the same today. |
