.What is the make/model? I would say you would need to change the tail light panel and lights if there is a noticeable difference. Doubt any interior trim would be an issue.

Didn't a Nova stocker get bounced earlier this year for the wrong tail lights for year claimed ? NHRA pretty picky...sometimes.

The answer is...it depends.
I would say, if it's a 66 Rambler Ambassador, leave it alone.
