You guys all act like this caught you off guard. If you want to run National events then you need to earn 5-6 grading points per year and if your smart enough to enter when these dates come up for your grade you wont be locked out.
Why is this so hard, you all know NHRA could care less about this issue. The word on the street is all national events next year mins INDY are going to be limited to 60 car fields this way all sportsman classes will be 6 round or less, this will help NHRA save on time, staffing and the points issue east coast guys bring up all the time. Don't worry there are more enhancements coming over the next 4 months.

come out West and see how many Points races you can go to within 400 miles one way of where ever you live is one problem. we don't have very many tracks close together like those racers back east. There are many racers who for some reason beyond their control could not go the 800 mile round trip to get Points, The racers did not get the memo that the entry list at Vegas was going to be cut big time > Vegas Historically can handle many more cars in the Pits and the important financial deal is the amount of Money Burton Smith is going to loose on the Points race because no one wants to go for one race they want to go to the national event then the points race , I am not 100% sure but i just bet there are at least 60 % less race tracks out here in the west

Entry Event Statistics show how many will be taken and how many are entered at the time,, and when you should get in, if they are going to make exceptions at one race well they better do them all the same way to be fair.

It took me almost 2 years but I may have learned. I'm entered in Dallas, Vegas and Pomona and don't plan on going to any of them but I'm not going through sweating it out trying to get entered if there is any possibility that I may be able to go. It bothers me that I don't plan on going and took a spot that once quota is met can't be available for someone else. I wish those with provisional entries wouldn't enter until a few days before the deadline to allow for others to enter.

I live here in Glendora,Cal. I hear that word hurled around once in a while here, but I assure you, it's a delightfully nice place to live. It hasn't turned into a third world toilet like so much of So Cal. Here's the point. To acquire grade points, one must travel the following (closest to farthest)
1.Fontana LODRS-30 miles. 2.Vegas LODRS - 250 miles. 3.Phoenix LODRS-375 miles. 4.Infinion LODRS-520 miles. 5. Rocky Mountain Raceway LODRS-1000 miles, approx. 6.Tucson National Open-500 miles. 7.Fontana National Open-30 miles. 8.Sacramento National Open-420 miles. 9.Redding National Open-600 miles. All these distances are one way. We are a rather far flung division. Which five races do you care to attend in order to go to Pomona (seven miles)twice and Vegas twice? If you have any intentions of pursuing the championship, that adds to the challenge, although winning it would be worth it.I guess we all have to spend our money wisely and, like the rest of life, choose our battles. |

Coming from where I used to live (Denver, Co.), although I still feel D's 1-4 have it the best of the 7 Divisions, I strongly feel D5 has it the worst for long tows to Divisionals. (I'm not counting National Opens, because they don't offer seasonal championship points, or contingency money. I would much rather race out of the Phoenix area, than from Denver which is why I was able to get 5 grade points last year.
