How did we get to this point? I grew up at the race track and won't trade that for anything. As a kid I remember racers and family's having fun together helping each other out now I see more and more complaining about other racers or their familys. What changed? Please don't say it's NHRA because even as a kid 30 years ago I could see NHRA didn't give a crap about the sportsman racer. OK here's my background I own a stocker but have not raced it in 3 years because it's to slow. I continue to work on it but I have a tight budget. My Dad (whom a lot of you probably know but I'll leave his name out) also drag races and he lets me run his car from time to time even though he still enjoys racing and he's a Mopar guy and I bought a chevy most mopar guys wouldn't even talk to their kid if they did that. When I do race I usually do a horse$hit job. Yes I know I sound like a real winner here but that's for the man upstairs to decide (there I brought religion into this thread) so we got all the bases covered. I don't know anyone on this thread and you don't know me. That being said I don't see the big deal with Bruce getting beat in a heads up race it happens and there are many determining factors involved. My car would get crushed in any heads up race.
Bruce why does it matter if a guy raced last weekend or raced for 30 years but stopped racing 3 years ago? If it wasn't for my Dad's selflessness I wouldn't be able to race at all. My point is we all share a love of drag racing and if money and time were no object I would race every weekend but they are so shouldn't we be trying to make the best of it when were at the track instead of talking about each other like a bunch of teenage girls? |

I have to wonder why the original post wasn't sent to the intended target as a private message?
