Back-Up Run Certification No Longer Required for NHRA National Records
http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop "The one-percent policy was adopted during the early development stages of the timing system and wasn't as reliable as the technology that we are fortunate to have in race control today," said Graham Light I guess the timing system that is used during division races isn't reliable and the technology is not as good as the equipment used at National Events. Otherwise, the sportsman classes would have been included in the new policy. |

Dim light really has no idea of what is going on in the Sportsman categories guess we'll still have to deal with the antiquated timing procedures of the past

Do they use the track's system for National events or does NHRA bring a special one along and move it from event to event?

Brockmeyer is usually onsite during national events. Last year, Houston and Topeka had huge issues with his Compulink system. He was scheduled to do a track tuneup at I29 when he had to fly back to Houston.

Nationals bring in their own systems.
Track systems are used at Divisionals, where records can be set

Funny now that more people are effected, people suddenly care about unequal application of rules.

Is it just me or does anyone else have the feeling that this new rule was implemented as an unashamed attempt by the NHRA to try and renew some interest in Pro drag racing. For example, Pro Stock.

If that is the intent, I sure would not see that as a negative. If they are assigning points to records, and they make it easier to get one, I would think more pros would go for it. That could make for some more exciting runs for the fans.
I wish they assigned points for records in the sportsman performance classes. I think IHRA used to do that. That would make for interesting possibilities in some points battles.
