Cooter, maybe you and I both need to try hillbilly Halftracking more, so we could become RACERS, instead of just racers. I won't run half track stuff either. I like diet Dr Pepper much better than Kool Aid myself. :-)

In the seventies a lot of the smaller tracks went to 1/8 racing due to increased speeds and insufficient shut down area. IHRA got their start at a lot of these same tracks and have leaned towards the 1/8 mile every since. It does seem a shame to run an 1/8 mile race at a facility like SGMSP.

Mr Ed, I believe you have come up with the standard for what 1/8 mile racing will be known as for ever after! "Hillbilly halftracking" has a ring to it, I run it if I race around here because as Mr Jimmy pointed out that's all that's left in my part of the world. Most all these tracks are not capable of handling the speeds we run today, but as Mr Jimmy also pointed out just seems a shame to run these tracks 1/8 that are more than adequate to handle 1/4. And most everyone knows me knows I drink all types of beverages, I just don't like them "watered" down.

That term Hillbilly Half-tracking is great. Where I come from, we sure do have our share of native Hillbilly's. We always wanted to name an association the HHRA.
(Hillbilly Hot Rod Association)
-if your car didn't quite meet IHRA or NHRA rules, you could probably pass tech in the HHRA and still race!

I'm from Oklahoma. We have our hillbillies. It's just a joke I make. Please don't be offended. My brother-in-law is from the west coast. He thinks we are all hillbillies here.
