I am not defending the guy since I don't know him but....

I have all the same tooling for doing heads and his videos may look crude and he may sound like a redneck but the work he is doing is not a whole lot different than how I did heads for years and years.

Sure you'd love to think your heads were being done in modern super accurate machines but trust me you can get very good results using all hand tools on a bench.....

A few machines can add up to a huge investment and produce poor results in the hands of an incompetent person.

I've taken brand new heads out of the box with Serdi type machine cut seats and they were so far out it was ridiculous.

I fixed them with "old School" seat grinding equipment.....Kwikway stones and hand held grinder on aluminum heads with hard seats.....a real pain to do and tedious and time consuming.....and always was...

So maybe the guy is a ripoff artist and a hick but the processes he shows are how I have done many, many heads with good results.

One machine I have seen.....A Newen can do seats and valve pocket work all CNC......Costs around $100 grand I believe...

Thats gonna take a lot of valve jobs to payoff !!!

Maybe I should go back into the head business....

I like the spray welding vids.....never did that process myself....

YES...Ed..
I was convinced he was an honest person.
Tommy/Tony talks a damn good game, had a decent website.
His videos showed a degree of competence to me.
Including one customer validating what a good job he did.

Up to that point had no reason to question what he was doing.
Nor did some 10 or so people and probably more than that.
Some racers tried diligently to warn the public and did not catch those warnings.

Start investigating when he kept asking for more money and delivery time slipped.
Which I confronted him and the sweet talker he is played me like a fiddle.

I have ported and polished two LT1 Iron Heads and an Exhaust Manifold.
The Iron Heads I did worked very well on our Impala Pinks Car.
FWIW on Sizemore's Videos I did learn a few things that were useful.

My experience before Porting the Pink Cars Heads started with a phone call to Joe Mondello in 2010.
He was very patient learning what to do without a flow bench.
Then bought his premium Porting Kit and went to work and got great results.
2011 he published an article on Vortex Heads and read it thoroughly learning even more.

My hope was to see how a professional would port them for a tow/bracket 383 engine for my Caprice wagon.
Seems no one ports Iron Heads and was way too busy to do another set.
Somehow $1500 project became a $2500 one.

Ed ... I took a chance and got screwed.

There is some poetry here.
Do you know that Tommy Sizemore reads these posts?

Nothing wrong with the tools, but who, that actually is very fast at the race track, are using his stuff? A guy that has not done that kind of work may watch this guy's video and not realize he is blowing some smoke as well. Look at who the really fast guys at the major races are using if you are looking for a shop to do your work. You also don't have to pay for the work up front, when they already have your heads.

Like the Street Outlaws on TV had one on the chassis dyno the other night. They just added two degrees more timing and picked up 200 HP at the tires. I guess some guys maybe don't know any better than to believe that one as well.

Ed,
Rarely get ripped off but this was one of those times.
Lesson learned, heading back to tried and true sources.

BTW send me an email to danfahey@dansources.com
Have a racing issue to discuss with you.

I did not post to say this guy was doing top of the line work but only that in the right hands some fairly old school type equipment could produce good results and did for many people and for many years. If I am trying to be the fastest guy out there or run with the fastest guys I am not looking to send my stuff to some unknown nobody. That's a given in today's racing environment.
