Chip Horton had an idea years ago: Give every spectator at a National event a free pass to race at that track the following week in their Trophy/Street class.

I think asking for another complete set of classes and cars without ways to have rules is asking to Dumb Down Drag Racing.
Encourage anyone interested in getting into NHRA organized Class racing to work their way up to it on week ends at a local track as it is today. Then encourage them to buy a used class car as suggested and participate with the rules we have now. Result would be earning a way into the meet not just opening the gate to people without them at least earning a spot at the event. Opportunity to get into the racing is not the dominant problem with Class racing. It is all cars are lb/hp( very arbitrary and subjective) Many other basic forms of entry class have been offered but fear of change results in negative comments. |
