Question Re: On the Lighter Side of things.

Did Pennys have an auto department in the mid-'70's, repairs and sold performance parts?

HEY JEFF, our store was high tech. They had the same deal, only it was run with air.

Don, that is some funny **** right there! Laughed so hard I stopped breathin' for a couple of minutes. My wife will be sending you the ER bill.

Jeff, I remember something similar. Only my recollection is of those vacuum tubes like bank drive-up windows use. Or maybe they still use those in big retail stores. We ain't got any here in the boondocks.

Myron, you bet they did! I drove over to Salem to buy two pairs of slicks at JCP back in the early '70's. They worked pretty good too. One pair was 6&5/8ths wide with "cheater" grooves in 'em. I was told they were made by Kelly Springfield.

Don, you realize the Writers Guild is on strike don't ya'? You could probably sell that stuff. I know that I'm never throwing out another catalog, that's for sure!

Doug,

What even worse is that in spite of those clothes the sexual revolution was at its peak in the seventies. The only thing I can figure is that the clothes were so horrific that people were willing to do anything or anyone to get out of them.

Hey, I graduated from high school in 1977............... What the heck were we thinking???? I think I tossed my leisure suit years ago. Those wide collered silk shirts were way cool. I may have some of those around still. The wife may have tossed those........

That's great! My buddies and I always lived in wore out rental houses while going to college (graduated in '04) and the last one I was in had that exact dining table set! It was too heavy for the previous tennents to move...lol I bet each of the chairs weighed 40-50lbs a piece. The table had a top you could put on it to play poker.

Ahh memories....
