Up here in div 6, we also have flexible rules about what does or doesn't constitute a qualifying run. Depending on whether there is an even or odd number of cars and who would benefit from a single, you may or may not get bumped off of the qualifying sheet. Got bitten by that one once...

Just a reminder, 2013 U.S. Nats heads up stock final, neither car was weighed or fuel checked. Don't believe either would have been DQ'd, but no effort to maintain some integrity in class racing is not what we expect from officials when we pay the dues and entry fees to race.

Both me and Stevie Wann were sitting in line after a Qualifier in Vegas and watched a gentleman drive right past us and fuel check . When it was brought to the attention of the officials it was a shoulder shrug and a comment of well if you don't want to weigh you don't have too .... 😲

It is a simple thumbs up if you improved and thumbs down if you didn't. Usually right before scales or fuel check....whichever comes first....why waste everyones time to fuel check or weigh if the run does not count????? Btw I have no complaints with
Mike Rice..

Here is the deal with the said racer we watched do this. At Vegas when the line is long enough its behind the slip booth scales and fuel check . Every racer should know you do not just assume you're not going to get weighed or fuel check regardless if you improved , that is at the discretion of the tech official . But to blatantly drive past all looks pretty suspicious and per the rules its grounds for DQ . My point was to bring into light the lax of rules that were being implied through this whole event including what happened to Mikey... like someone posted we pay to have a level playing field regardless of the rules and it should be brought to the attention of the officials but when the officials don't care who does ??

We went from ice falling off a car going down the track, to not crossing the scales!
Back to the original point. First, if I was the guy with the faster car that "couldn't" lose, I would not be putting ice on my intake! Second, the rule is very clear. It must be off the car prior to leaving the staging lanes. So the winning racer here deserves to be DQ'd! |
