Way too many. 109 Classes, including the 23 added this year. On the scoops, I have mixed feelings. I think some of them are Comp cars. I know there is supposed to be some difference between the Mod classes and Comp. Maybe somebody smarter than me can tell me what the difference is.

They should not have killed Modified. That's the place for those cars.

Modified Eliminator was originally its own separate class, it was not part of Super Stock. That's the point.

Almost 10,000 reads on the two threads regarding classes and eliminator.
Maybe a poll of "What is the most important change which could improve enjoyment of class racing structure" should be started.
Simply a way to cut costs;
More heads up racing;
Easy tech;
Encourage more new racers.

then with all these things to consider maybe ONE change could best help all the issues. Then everyone might lobby NHRA for the same change which could please the Majority of issues.

Here's my vote Dick, why don't people that don't race quit bringing up ideas that don't affect them? How about we don't vote on eliminating a class that they don't run in because they think there are too many classes? I'm sure given the chance you would eliminate my class as I'm pretty sure that my combination isn't heads up friendly. Here's an idea, lets quit screwing with the rules and just shut up and race. While all of these hairbrained ideas (Pinks, Street Outlaws, Import Series, etc) have come and gone, we're still here and I'm going to say that for good or bad, I'm sticking with what is working.

Jim, very fair comments. Sometimes I am tempted into at least commenting since I have been there in most situations in Class racing. Racer, Race Organizer, Sponsor, and have had business building Class Cars. By the way how many cars are in your class at a national event? or in the country? You are to be congratulated for your work on your combination.
I speak from experience of having 13-17 class cars to beat and found it more fun than the bracket dial in mode but that is my experience. Thanks again.

Good looking Pinto. I notice you do compete in a modified class where no hp factoring issues can affect your competitiveness. Good Luck.

I may be late to the party, but why not have just 14 classes in SS? Have 7.5 lbs-hp, 8.5 lbs-hp, through 20.5 lbs-hp. Give a 5% weight break for an auto, 5% weight break for non-GT cars, 2.5% weight break for non-front wheel drive conversion cars and no 170 lbs. added for driver.

Have 6 additional classes for modified that would run with SS. 7.5 lbs-cid to 12.5 lbs-cid, any single 4-barrel. Weight breaks for autos.

Have 4 additional cases for the new cars that would also run with SS. Weight breaks for autos.

Maybe it's just me, but the class structure seems totally out of control. Cutting classes would make the eliminator a lot more competitive. There would certainly be a LOT more heads up runs.

Just a thought.
