Be careful what you wish for. There was a guy named Mitch Kight that kicked your *** for years if you ran G/SA or whatever class you ran. You and everyone else dodged him and he was going to show his *** at Gainesville this year but because of rain didnt get the chance. I think he was looking at 1.50 under or better as I have seen that car run that fast.

You tell me what class to be in, I think an NHRA race in the fall would be nice.

So after saying that I will call you out JOHN HOLMES. Who are you.

Tim you have a set of heads for F/SA i gave you months ago, I say its time to work on them.

Looking forward to giving more beatings next year!

Dunno, Herb... I think Piedmont Dragway would be a great host for some Class match races during a Thursday night Big Dog, don't you think? If you can keep Macy at J weight and Jamie on the bias plys, I might be able to run with them and give the fans a good show!

What's great about Tim Sloan isn't just his engines. He can also drive -- was #2 in the World in IHRA Modified Eliminator years ago, and came out of 'retirement' and won a Pro-Am in Terry Knott's car, I think in about his 2nd try. He's also at many of the events, and is a major help to everyone at the race track. His skill, advice, and friendship are priceless, and very much appreciated -- which is what this thread was supposed to be about.

Ed F. - As you know, Billy Nees built my EF/SA Turismo. I won Class on a single once, went 9 rounds in my first two races with it while only running under the index three times, and ran -.45 under once. Missed one race, and finished #11 in NHRA Div. 1. I'm grateful to Billy for getting me started in Stock eliminator, and he's another one that would do anything for you at the race track. He's another brilliant man - even if a little cranky and eccentric.

Beard you might be on to something. I hope you guys had pictures made of your cars this weekend with people in the stands at a local track. That is what sponsors like.

Piedmont use to run Stock SS combos the Wednesday ngiht before the national events at Rockingham back in the 80's. Now that would be fun, a free race maybe who knows.

Just when I got to thinking nothing exciting ever happened on this forum I return to find this

Where do I even start?! First I'll tell you that Scott has been racing quite successfully for 22 years now, and only started doing the "class racing" thing a year and a half ago when presented the opportunity. To be quite frank, we expected to meet people with the same attitude that Mr. Holmes has. Turns out, we met A LOT of extremely nice people during the last year and a half with the class racing. Almost every competitior Scott ran approached him prior to the race, introduced themselves, wished him luck and said "Let's go have fun".

Last winter we bought the motor from Tim Sloan that was in Hillarey's car, thus beginning our relationship with Sloan Racing Engines. We were immediately impressed - the motor was very consistent, competative, fast and reliable. But beyond that, we were impressed with the knowledge, helpfullness and at track support we received from not only Tim, but Shelia and Hillarey as well. Not only do we call Sloan Racing Engines our engine builder, but we call them our friends. And us Macy's consider our friends our family (cause our real family sucks, we make our own! - ha ha).

My point - you won't find a nicer engine builder out there. Tim Sloan is the definition of a true Southern Gentleman. Beyond that, he has a passion for drag racing, sure he's in this to make money, but the man loves our sport. How many other engine builders have sponsored the Stock or Super Stock class for the division?

Furthermore - what is up with this "I'm better than you because I run the "prestigious NHRA" series and have a "fast" traditional/"real" stocker" attitude???

First, NHRA treats their racers like a door mat. You never know when your class will get bumped from the program - you're not making them any money! IHRA shows a hell of a lot more appreciation for their racers. Why everyone thinks NHRA is so great is beyond me. And on a side note, the only NHRA tracks we could go to in this area is Bristol and Virginia Motorsports Park, versus the 12 plus IHRA tracks in our area. Didn't Bristol's National event bump the Stock class this year??? So that leaves one track to race at.

Second, you do realize that 99% of the time your just....brace yourself while I use this dirty word....BRACKET RACING! That's right, you're just a nasty old bracket racer like the rest of us dirt bags. And that other 1% of the time our Sloan Racing Engine hasn't failed us yet. I do believe our Sloan Racing engine beat one of those "better" Engine Builders motor that you listed in a heads up competition on our way to our first Ironman win.

Third, so you have a lot more money invested in your "real" stocker than our "fake" one. Good for you, money bags. At the end of the day the purse is still the same. Fact of the matter is, if we had to compete in a traditional stocker then we couldn't afford it, we'd end up running Hot Rod instead. More and more people are in our shoes. Eliminate the use of crate motors in the Stock class and before long your class won't exist.

Bottom line, Sloan Racing Engines is highly respected by ALL of their customers. We highly recommend them and will continue to do business with them. We won the Division 9 Championship, won 3 Ironmen and finished 3rd in the World. We also picked up Stock/Super Stock wins at Piedmont and Roxboro this year. We contribute our success to the help of Sloan Racing Engines.

P.S. - I'd put the $10,000 up for Hillarey to race you if I had it. Unfortuately I'm not made of money like you obviously are. I think Hillarey would win - especially since you probably won't be able to see to get down the track with your two black eyes.

P.S.S - Scott called you a douche bag who probably doesn't even have a real car. He'll take you in a bracket race any time, any place, best two out of three wins. I'm sure you're not interested though as you probably don't have the talent required to bracket race, just the money to heads up race.
