In the segment that had the Ok. guys racing the Chicago guys, it sure looked like they were racing on the street just north of the RT 66 track. Why doesnt NHRA get involved and offer the street guys some nice, safe track to race on.In my opinion it would be alot more entertaining if 75% of the races were not decided by someone going up in smoke, jumping the flashlight,(when is he going to get run over?),or getting real loose down track!!!Let the fastest car really win.

The first line of the paragraph in the letter where they are citing the rulebook clearly states " Participants at events...."
To me, the clear intent of that rule is when you are participating AT an "NHRA" event. That is a big stretch to apply the rules in that paragraph to anything a member does when they aren't at an event. I agree that rights are being taken away here.

It's not a right. It's a privilege. Just like a driver's license, which is also not a right, meaning it can be taken away from you at any time.

I'm with NHRA on this one. Of course the show is staged and made for TV, but the average person, lounging on the sofa watching, may not know that. You want to participate in this "show"? Take the NHRA identification, numbers, etc. off the car. I don't want to be associated with this stupidity either.

All of u that want to put the show down; n not want to be associated with it, well apparently a lot of manufactures don't feel the same way. there is no shortage of parts being seen on the show n on the backs of the SO members. So it seems that they must not agree with u or NHRA on the subject or they wouldn't have their names associated with them or the show. I enjoy it the show for what it is entertainment.

On newscast when someone is killed while racing on the street
newscaster calls it drag racing maybe NHRA should call the news channel and set them straight. Drag racing is done on a drag strip, street racing is done on the street |

Wonder if this has any connection with NHRA selling the PRO Classes to the Entertainment Company?

Hmmmm let me think about this
first there was guys coming from WW 2 started building something called a hot rod they raced each other on the street. second, then a smart guy said lets organize these people. and make it safe and legal and maybe we can make a couple of bucks third, now days we'll play big brother, so street racing on tv is a no no even though most local track are making money promoting Fun day sundays street cars only on thursdays grudge race's saturday so the local tracks feed off the tv show and to a certian point pull cars off the street. most tracks charge 10 15 bucks to race. there is even midnight maddness. Al Hoffman (RIP) used to street race his big block lenco shifted corvette for money on a regular basis try to tell him what to do back then. So nhra should send letters out to members not to watch two lane black top, american graffiti, dragstrip girls, etc etc etc |

Yes there are rules and laws to follow, and if I break them you can have these right also taken away. Put in jail, pay big fines ECT ECT ... But these are our rights as citizen of this GREAT country. OK I'm done running my mouth now, just had to get that off my chest Cal S/ST HR 1177 |
