Years ago at Mike Carrs race in Hagerstown, Michael said the rear in my car sounded funny(?). I drove 1 or 2 races the following year before I pulled them out and the ring gear was missing 6 or 7 teeth. I tend to inspect them much closer now.
Heading out for Norwalk in the morning...looking forward to eating, drinking some martinis on the veranda(tailgate)......and some racing. |

Larry and Patsy, just how are the sheep this year? I think Kyle is still mad as us. Do we get a picture of the new toilet?

The first time I hurt a rear in the Volare, I heard it start to make a little noise, and thought, "Well, I should take care of that in the next couple weeks." The experience with Terry's car gave me a false sense of security. Nope, BANG on the very next run. Ever since then, that particular 8-3/4 didn't even give a warning, just bang. Glad to have the Moser60 in there!

We are heading out in the morning. My 8 3/4 is getting a little noisy but behind my powerless 340 it should last a few more years. We'll see you guys in the afternoon. Safe travels to all coming. Holgar & Kathy

I don't know what gear oil you are using Michael, but if you put in Red Line high impact gear oil, the gears will last allot longer. I checked my 5:86 gears in a 12 bolt with a magnet and did even get a sliver of metal out of the housing after 2 years. The oil is rated at GL6, which means the gears really never touch each other. Great stuff!

Think it was just some off the shelf stuff for that set. Used Lucas Oil this time.

Looking at the entry list on the NHRA website,, I'm thinking this should be quite the Stock/Superstock show this weekend,, a lot of good cars(and drivers) entered here.
Good luck to all. Danny Durham |
