What caused the scuffing on the cylinders? I would be willing to say you had the 2and rings upside down with all that oil in the cylinders. |

They were in right, Carl. That was the first thing I checked when I took it apart, and I hoped that's what the problem was.
You're right, I just don't know what I'm doing...that's why it runs just fine with the new rings. |

Did you re-hone the block before installing the Tri-City rings? Either way, let us know
how it runs after you get a few laps on it. Heard nothing but GOOD on Greg's stuff.... |

There is stuff out there with gapless rings that run just fine. I wouldn't call total seal and tell them there stuff is garbage. When running the low tension stuff, hone and crankcase vapor mangagement is crucial.
The important you found something that works well for you. Happy racing.. |

Not going to make that one, Al. I wish I were going, but we have an extravaganza every year with my wife's family. Earlville on the 12th and 13th is on the calendar, though.

It's interesting you mention vapor management...I run 2 pcvs normally, but didn't hook them up for break-in. I just left the valve covers open and plugged the vacuum port. Maybe it would've helped to have them hooked up, who knows? It was just a very frustrating ordeal and I'm glad it's over. Now if it would stop raining maybe I could go try it out! |
