BTW, the track has a new website (again) at
www.racemoroso.com . I spoke to (drag strip manager) Marc Wesler yesterday regarding the Citrus S/SS combo and class racing in general. First I must say it was a real pleasure speaking to Marc for 2 reasons: 1.. yes, he's part of the Wesler tribe from Michigan and wasn't involved with last years fiasco (or any previous MMP events for that matter), and 2...Marc not only supports class racing, HE LOVES IT!!!!!!!! He's hinted on following the Bill Bader school of thinking too.
Although the facility is currently NHRA sanctioned, future independent sportsman events to include IHRA classes, TS, TD, and .90 categories are being seriously considered in the near future, possibly as early as January. In addition, Comp is being explored, although obligatory CIC, weight, body and engine rules prove too challenging at this juncture.
This years Citrus event, like last years, follows the divisional format, including record runs, ladders, and same class heads-up runs.
Regardless of all the faults and problems in the last 14 years or so, I've got a good feeling about MMP in that it's turning around, reminiscent of the Bob Moles days!!
