Please read the rule book before spending money on a home build solution to a safety thing. Accepted poly seats are something like $40.
EDIT: You need approved padding on any metal that contacts your helmet in a driving position. Dale

OK, poly seat meaning racing seat. I personally like the look of my "stock" bucket seats in my "stock eliminator"car, but I can understand why people will use poly seats.

The stock buckets in my 68 Mustang stop at the shoulder and would never pass any safety inspection. If you can build an acceptable head restraint then go for it. You've got more skill than I do, or at least you trust your skill more than I do. Aluminum racing seats are nice, but the polyurethane molded ones were the only seats in my budget.

It sounds like he is simply going to fabricate a stop attached to his hoop like ours.

What do you have covering your rear seat close off? Is it fireproof? Dale

The requirements and information you are looking for is shown in the Rule Book General Regulations section.
That section of the rule book is free; the link is as follows: http://www.nhra.com/userfiles/file/2...ons_120413.pdf |
