Any competitive stocker needs thrashing no mater what the class and a constant flow of money.

I have to agree with Lee, Billy. Since I don't have your smarts when it comes to mechanical savy, more money to pay someone like you who does would be a big help to me...it would also get me out to more racing events than I've been to in recent years (i.e. one LODRS race in the last 4yrs), and the first race as a stocker in the last 2yrs, due to not enough of the greenbacks in my budget!

After plugging in the 12th cam in the Q/SA, I knew Billy was serious about making a 301 Pontiac engine go fast..............well, relitively fast!!!!
Yeah, he worked his butt off getting that thing to run in the 12's.

Nothing on my son's O/SA and P/SA Wagon costs any different than my D/SA or E/SA Dodge.

Same cost Transmission and Converter (6,000+), Rear End and so on!

The 318 is same price to build as 340 (10K +). etc.

Only difference is the heavy wagon tears up more parts.

Your experience may vary!

Hi Jim, I'm glad you (and whoever else you felt were "verbally" beating up on me), truly did miss me...lol. Since I didn't do any stocker racing in 2013 (and for that matter since May 2012), it was to depressing for me to be here w/o being on the racing scene like you and others have been. However, as you know I got my jabs in on you guys too, so the give and take was rather nice, and I'm glad to be back.

However, I actually was here two months ago when a thread here was talking about Toyota being the "Official Car of the NHRA", and I had plenty to say about that! There's even a thread in the "Lounge" section where I had some comments for "Eddie's 66", with regards to import branded vehicles.

I had a dog in this fight though, because my Cavalier is definitely a lower class stocker. I must admit I haven't had to spend nearly as much on my stocker as many who race rwd stockers have had to, and I'm glad. Even with NHRA dropping the indexes .3 back around 2010 (?), and the altitude correction factors being changed from the way they were for Stock and Super Stock, to the super categories factor (I hope if you're on the board, that you and others will seek out bringing the old indexes and our correction factors back, Jim?), my car still is competitive enough that I had a nice showing here at the Phoenix LODRS race 2mths ago. It's nice to mainly gas up and go (with the most thrashing I need to do on the car being it's occasional oil change). However, if I had Billy Nees's (or Woodro Josey's) smarts, and more dough, not only would I be doing more racing, but I'd be able to wring more hp out of my little V6 (Having the smarts of those well versed Like Woody in tuning an "Accel Calmap", would be a great start). Being able to find a flange kit for a 173 V6 (like the ones made for the S-10/S-15 trucks), and making my own headers for my car would be a big help as well. Having a house so I could tinker with my car would be the best help of the three though, and that's a work in progress!
