I agree. I haul a '68 Nova (cast iron headed small block), an old Honda 3 wheeler, tool boxes, and various items, fuel, tables, chairs and whatnot in a 24ft Wells Cargo enclosed trailer, with a '13 Ram crew cab, Hemi powered, that is rated for 10,600 lbs.
Just having the extra wheelbase makes it a safer deal than a Tahoe. Not sure what the length is on a Durango,, but I would stay away from the shorter vehicles, especially if you're carrying "precious cargo", which all of us do. I've heard of many horror stories where too short a vehicle started swaying and soon got out of control.
Tongue weight becomes very critical on a shorter wheelbased vehicle. I had a brother in law, who with a buddy, rolled a K-5 Blazer years ago on an elk hunting trip, because the utility trailer with 2 elk in it were not properly placed where their combined weight provided enough load over the trailer tongue. They escaped with some bruises, but what hurt more was the butt chewing they got from us for being so careless. Give it some serious thought before laying down your money. You might think about a dually with the Impala's hefty posture. My 2,, more like 50 cents.
