Cool Re: Need Help on a Stock Eliminator Motor Builder

Seems to me that a fairly in depth article on that car came out in a 1976 issue of Super Stock and Drag Illustrated entitled "Building a Better Boat Anchor". It dealt with the cam, the intake selection ( seems OEM aluminum was the only choice at the time) and a bunch of neat stuff. It never really mentioned the exact ET and MPH, but it did say he did fairly well with it. In Stock, pay attention to the intake requirements. You may be able to use the OEM aluminum intake, or a 340 horse 409 intake. Also is the '60 El Camino heavier than a '61 Impala hardtop? Might make P with it. It's interesting. Here we are talking about a nearly 40 year old Super Stock effort with a car that was old when it was built. Seems to me I remember Herman Chapman running a '71-72 Chevelle wagon with a 402 big block as well.
