NHRA needs to hire a technical writer that a) knows what they are writing about, b) English is their first language, because that rule revision is very poorly worded

Hi Alex.....Glad to see you doing better. Ones health is everything. We are not 10 ft tall and bullet proof anymore. Without good health we have nothing. What to do is up to each individual Alex. I had 3 stockers back in the 7 inch tire days and a SS/IA Camaro in 77-79. Parts were less expensive, gas to tow with cost less. Entry fees were $40 for most National events in NHRA. It was a time when I thought all the fast guys were legal.....LOL. I was as hooked a much as anyone on here is. Its like a drug. I worked for lots of years for IHRA and while it wasn't what I would have rather been doing but I did my best and tried helping others when I could. I started to race again when I first moved to Fla. and almost bought Jim Marshalls Corvette. That's all behind me now. Street rodding, messing with muscle cars, going to shows and helping build other rides with friends keeps me from getting back in it. Im doing a 57 Olds real J-2 car now with an 85 year young guy. I hope I have his health when or IF I live that long. He used to round track race but quit a few years ago. Im doing the motor and resetting up the rear. Things I learned from being in drag racing as I was never a line mechanic. Its not easy staying away from racing but there is life after drag racing. Its just a hard deal to kick. Its not as much work and a hell of a lot less expensive on a retirement check.. I know as much as most how Skooter and Aaron screwed up IHRA. What can one do. Its to bad that IHRA fell apart for the most part. Im building a new street ride now for myself as I sold the 35 Chevy and I ride the ole Harley when I feel like it. Im almost 68 and just don't have the drive (or the $$$$$) to race now but every once in a while I do think about it then I wake up. Im wanting to build a new larger garage. I don't knock anyone who is involved with their passion. I was just reading the posts about this rule and others then wondered how many just get tired of being jerked around with stupidity like header teathers. Maybe when we get older we don't have the desire to get kicked in the guts anymore. I envy the guys like Bobby Warren and others in their 70's and 80's who still do it. Anyway I was just wondering. I didn't mean anything bad about anyone by asking the question.

I got an email from a reliable source saying that the rule is being misinterpreted. According to the email, the hanger/bolt deal is for full exhaust systems and the tether requirement still applies for headers with removable collectors. I am glad I waited before buying something and I think I'm going to wait a little longer to see how this shakes out.

What the big deal about header tethers? You can buy tethers for less money than I pay for a oil change, 4 quarts of 19.95 oil, 12.00 filter= 92.00. Tom
