In The early 80's I had Kip Build me a 455 Super Duty Pontiac Motor for My Super Stocker and Marlan Davis from Hot Rod magazine did a article on the Dyno Session Kip did on My combination , Kip used to say many years after that article people from all over the world would always mention that article we use to laugh on how much fun we had when the article was being written

Kip was also the Stepfather to Darin Morgan.
Darin has always given credit to Kip for his career as a racing cylinder porter and builder. |

My Deepest Sympathies to the Martin family. All though I never had the pleasure of meeting Kip Martin, his name is legendary in the world of Drag Racing and I have followed his racing and accomplishments for many, many years.

Kip would visit his daughters out in Kansas, on his way back to Phoenix he would stop at my shop in Colorado and spend a few days, this was always my oppurtunity to discuss my car setup with him, Kip and Harold Bettes would talk for hours about the old days while I would work, those lunches were always filled with tech talk

Prayers for Kip and his family! .I often wondered how he could get a 289 with 440 cfm carburetor to go that fast. He was the yardstick that Fazio Family Racing measured their performance!

In the early 70's we were racing at Amarillo , Texas and Kip was pitted by me and he had to tear down the Engine I believe for a record with His Ford Galaxy ,just as I was changing a new cam in My Chevy .Darn if Kip had his motor apart and back to gather before I got the cam done , so he came over and helped me finish , I knew his motive we were all going to go out to diner that night and he wanted to make sure we did that lol
Of course i bought Wow He was one of the quickest racer i know who could take his engine apart for tear down and get it back together in time to go out to diner (tie) ![]() ![]()

Kip had just set the SS/L record (again) in Tucson. I asked him if he held anything back....He just smiled....and said....."Nope....that is all we got"....and gave me a wink
