If I remember correctly the car was black in colour. I think the Bird won 2 out of 3 races and it was running in the 11.70 range!
John, that was Tom Reider - don't think it was a Sportsman class car.

Here's how it was explained to me several years ago by a techman. When there is no notation that it is either Stock or S/S, it means that the horsepower is the same for both.

And 87-88 Turbo Coupes are not currently allowed in SS.
How can a car be allowed in stock but not superstock?
I talked with NHRA years ago about a FWD turbododge in superstock and they said it would run SS/PA

I might have been in error.

This is what threw me off:
Most of the SS combos in the classification guide have 2 asterisks above the factory hp number.
As the screenshot posted here shows, there is not any.

The 302 for the T-Bird has the same hp for both the stock factor and the ss factor.
That's what made me think the 140 was stock only.

However, as Crew Chief posted above, maybe not designating one or 2 asterisks means it has the same h.p. for both stk. and SS ?

So...would that mean it is legal for SS ?

Years ago when I got ford to send the engine specs for the turbo motor for stock I never asks them about S/S.

Does anyone know what the intake and exhaust cc's for the various '84 - '88 heads? I know that people have run these combinations in SS over the years, I was wondering how they did this without the cc specs being documented. If anyone has the numbers, please contact me.

I remember seeing a 2.3T in a Fairmont Futura with a stick, neat car and light.
