Local Racing was the racing at this time. The Nationals was considered the only race away from the local tracks. We ran the Muncie, Pences turkey farm some week ends then later moved on to Tri State in Hamilton Ohio. Then it was Edgewater and occasional Lexington. We saw a lot of national competitors. Those weekends were something to see. Many good guys learning the cars and moving up to more competitive status. Then the points meets began to attract many and the local tracks were less often attended. Runing your index became a goal and then points meets were more attractive.

Dave, I think I saw your friend driving Lloyd's car @ Tri-State along time ago. Didn't it have a big block Chev in it?

Before they built their Modified Compact car, they did a bit of the eastern national tour. I know they went to the Gators and Englishtown. I couldn't get enough time off work to go with them. Those were good times. I don't think I realised how lucky I was to have experienced all that at that time.
