Just got home from seeing the movie. One of the perks of being retired, no crowd at the theater. I agree with Kelly, very good movie. I did notice some very small things wrong, but these DID NOT take away from the overall quality of the movie. Showing more than just the racing put a real human perspective on the movie. The family and business problems and dealing with Jamie's (McEwen's son) leukemia is very well done. Can't wait to own it when available. It is worth seeing, even if it's in only one theater. I have heard the DVD will be out for the holidays.

Red face Re: Snake & Mongoose Movie

I caught the 3:40 showing today after work,, got the senior discount, and walked into the theater and theres only one dude in there. He looks at me and of course, I tell him, "Aw man, that's the seat I wanted!" He laughs and sadly, that's the only people that saw the afternoon showing. A shame that this movie doesn't get any advertising in the "real world",, just in our little racers' circle. The only radio spots I've heard are 10 second bites on our local sports talk station. I know its not a major motion picture, but I hope the evening and weekend shows do better than 2 viewers per showing.
As for the movie, I thought it was alright,, a decent story line, with plenty of old footage mixed in. I feel the 2 main actors did okay,,, theres a little mixing of chronological events, like going from the Arrow to the Monza and back to the Arrow, depending on the footage used. Some of the "cameos" were amusing,, Capps, DeJoria,, Snake & Goose on the golf cart, and so on. I thought the kid playing Jamie McEwen did a great job.
Overall,, I'd say if you get a chance to see it, go for it. Make sure you hang around for the credits as theres some cool pics and video shown to close it out. My 2 cents.

Current and upcoming theater locations, nationwide

Doesn't look too promising to see it in New England...

I get your point,,, but you do realize that the Emmys are for television excellence, not for motion pictures.
Its sad that theres such a small distribution scheduled for this movie. If there is a dismal turnout in theaters for this, is it possible they'd pull the plug on DVD and Blu-Ray sales?
Just thinking out loud.

there was a large article in my local paper about the movie opening in New Brunswick NJ today, thinking about getting tickets online to go tonight, im not sure how crowded it will be, being 10 minutes from Englishtown.

Don't think out loud too much Danny. There were only 3 people when I went to see the movie. The other 2 guys were from Portland, 150 miles away. I wonder how many people were there when Kelly went (he's been twice)?? Thinking that the weekend would have a bigger crowd, I saw it on a Monday. I really hope a lot of people go see it, it is worth the time. I can understand not wanting to drive long distances for a movie. Maybe get a carload and go see the movie with buddies. Bench race on the way there and then critique the movie on the way home.

The first time I went we were three of about 18 people for the 3 pm showing on a Friday... The second time I went was Sunday at 3.40 pm and I was one of 1 about 12 -- The manager said they were going to keep it going about another two weeks and turn out was good.. It may be the last time to go see it on a Big screen is my motivation !!...
