Len--Glad to see the NHRA is taking a look at the weight breaks--at the recent Toyo Tires Nationals we had a D/FIA entry that only a few weeks before was a B/FIA car--thats a 672 lb. swing in weight--can that be safe ?? To put some of these high H.P. rocketships on a diet is a great idea---go for it.......

It would be great to see a GT class start higher also. This would separate the HEAVY big Blocks from the fly wt small block cars in GT/A and AA. 7 and 7.5 would be able to do this and this would make the factoring less a problem in this class.

I understand new cars like the GT500 Shelby need a lower weight break to fit in the A class. Will NHRA requlate boost with these supercharged engines? Or will they be allowed to dominate the class with every change of a pulley? NHRA has allowed unrequlated boost in the turbo cars so should this be any different? My understanding is 650 horsepower is easily obtainable with a factory built engine with smaller pulley, headers and engine management by allowable ECU's.
Speaking of supercharged engines, were does the late model Lightening fall? Didn't Evan Smith build one for Stock? I assume it was not successful? If not, then the GT500 may not be a threat. Either way, I hate to see pulley's determine who the number 1 qualifier is. I am anxious to see GT500's in stock. They belong here just as everything else produced in America. I just think care should be taken on the part of NHRA and IHRA. Other exciting new entries should include the Z06's, new Challenger and of course the Viper's. Played right, we could see a real revival in Stock.
