In past years, BIR had a hard time finishing one race in two days, I question whether they will be able to pull this off. I know the car count has been down and they have been finishing early on Sunday. If it works as planned, it will be a good program for everyone. I will try to support it. Dyno

A 'prorated' payout I'm affraid won't draw many more Class cars.
Glenn---do you have what our average S/SS combo car count was? The way I read it, we need AT LEAST 36 cars to have $1,000 to win...vs our $205 weekend entry ($25 gate fee included Sat-Sun). The 2-day event is something long over-due in my opinion. What I don't get on BIR's website it states 1 time trial, and 1 qualifying run prior to each event. Why not make them BOTH Q runs?

As for payout it's quite simple. the more cars that race more $$$ for payout that you can win. If everybody would just show up AND race, the payout is VERY good in comparison to a divisional race or a national event. If we have 32 cars it will be $1000 to win Sat. AND $1000 TO WIN Sun. (2 SEPARATE RACES 2 SEPARATE PAYOUTS.) 1 Saturday and 1 Sunday. Entry fee is $90.00 per day and a $25 Sat.-Sun. general adm. So you'd actually be racing for $2000 to win VS your $205 entry / gate fee) AND HAVE 2 CHANCES TO WIN IT! NOT JUST $1000 Now with 2 day events you double your chances to win $$$ for the cost of 1 tow. It seems to make economical sense to me. The time trial / qualifying statement is simply a misprint. Both runs WILL BE QUALIFYING PASSES!!! I will have this addressed ASAP in order to eliminate confusion & put wondering minds at rest. I like it!
I don't think running Jackpot is a good idea however. Jackpot was good when only Jr's and S/SS were running eliminations, but with all classes running eliminations each day, it may be challenging to finish on time or by the curfew.... I think we averaged around 30 last year. Tim |

Hi Tim
I think 30 was the average S/SS car count last year. I don't think that a (jackpot) race will be run. Just a complete elimination race for every class each day. with 2 "Q" runs on Sat. and 1 on Sun. Quote:

I understand the MATH Glenn, I just would hope the Class cars show up to have a good payout. What I've never understood is how a track like Thunder Valley (which is like driving down Hwy 10) can get 40+ cars, and BIR...a Top NHRA facility struggles to get a 32 car field. I HOPE this NEW program fixes the car count issue.
BIR's Bracket program/payout is FANTASTIC! $65 entry per/day ($25 gate fee), $2000 win (after run off). Of course, that's 2-3 rounds more to WIN to get there. So on the Bracket side, you can pay $155 for the weekend and run for a guaranteed $4000. Just have to figure out which car I bring up for the events.

Makes no real difference to me as I will probably be off playing on the trails with the RZR instead or racing. |

to answer Travis' question....
""What I've never understood is how a track like Thunder Valley (which is like driving down Hwy 10) can get 40+ cars, and BIR...a Top NHRA facility struggles to get a 32 car field. I HOPE this NEW program fixes the car count issue."" I can answer this for you very simply... The racers in the Thunder Valley area, who own cars, go to the track and race their cars! That's how you get a good car count. It's that simple! That is the fix for the car count issue. Glenn I hope your not pointing fingers at me with regards to showing up to races. Between my bracket car and super stocker, in an average year I run 14-16 events and have since the late 90s. Double entering S/P and Pro...and even tripple entering a couple of times when someone else could haul my Super Stocker.
As for rasing funds for our S/SS combo's if any of you recall I had one of my sponsors post a fun 'contingency' for $300 W/$100 R-U years ago when BIR tried to run a BIG $ S/SS combo. I didn't even race S/SS back then! We paid out over $1,000 in 2 years. Between Brackets and S/SS. Last year at the National Open at Top End I had another sponsor of mine give away a couple of Certificates to his chassis shop. As well the year prior, when I tried to organize an event there and only had 10 cars show...3 of those out of MY shop. On top of the countless 'fish fry's/pot luck's' I've hosted. I run all over Division 5 and some of Division 3 chasing MY Super Stock dreams. I'm happy doing what I do. I like the travel and to meet different racer's. BIR IS MY HOME TRACK...make no mistake about it. It's the best facility in our area. However, YOU asked for our thoughts at the beginning.......I just simply told you MY opinion. I for one, like to know what I'm racing for before I pull through the gates! Not the, if there's this many it pays this, or if there's more it pays this. If I know the program, then it's MY decision if I race at the track or not. Nobody will ever be able to convince me that running a Super Stocker or high dollar Stocker for that matter, for anything less than $1,000 to WIN makes sense....just MY opinion. I talked to the owner just a bit ago on a social media site...average car count in 2012 was 25....just an FYI. MN racer's tend to support the Midwest Classracer's events at Thunder Valley because they 'guarantee' a payout. Now that being said, now that BIR has stepped to the plate and offered up a 2-day event....will the Midwest Classracer's turn around an support OUR home track back???
