And if it helps, we have a local racer with a 318 2 barrel that runs high 12s as a legal Q/Stocker.

I highly doubt that you can to run high 12s with a "legal" 318 2barrel. The 185 horsepower rating is about 10 hp to high. That's at legal P weight for a 1973 dart swinger at 3130 pounds

My 2 cent
The difference in cost to build a 340 over a 318 wouldn't be that much.spend the money wise and do a 340 combo.lot of good used part out there for sale.and you will like the power of the 340.

You had better be willing to give that fellow more than your 2 cents if you convince him that he can do a 340 combo for not much more than a 318!

Sal, its volume. Our little carburetors dont have much of a bowl and at 6000 plus they need everything they can get without the carb starving for fuel. Adding pressure fools with things as far as I can tell.
