I would just like to thank Mr. Collins for helping us out as much as he did; however with that said it will be my first and last Open at Gainsville and I think I speak for a few other racers when I say shame on whomever was in charge of the track preparations. The test and tune session on Thursday was a disgrace and the track wasn't much better yesterday. At least half the cars left and with a minimal car count to begin with, this Open will probably be non existent soon enough. I just wonder how NHRA and the track thinks a race is suppose to grow from year to year when you can even put your best foot forward on the first go. Weather was great, had a great time seeing a few friends before seasons ends and most of us made our war to PRI. Next time the NHRA or the track needs extra money to properly prepare the track, I'm sure you can pass the hat around the pits and we will be more than happy to chip in, especially after driving over 2000 miles!

I heard the track was terrible, many racers left on Friday. Anyone know if the SS/AH record was reset? Thanks, Dyno

I agree with Gaffney. The track was terrible. After busting our *** to get there it was disappointing to say the least. Especially because we chose racing at Gainesville over other plans like the PRI show. What's it going to take to get NHRA to prep a track properly? You can't blame it on money because I guarantee there was more than a few racers that would have been happy to pitch in extra cash for better conditions.

WE still don't know who won or how many cars were there in Stock and Super Stock. DRC has results for everything else. Sure glad I decided to do the PRI instead! Jim

I got some early word the SS/AH cars were running some decent numbers considering the air. Wofford, Wolkowitz, Barton in the 8.40's. Teuton and Howes must have had some issues on whatever session the others ran good in. Hopkins and Hill in the low 8.30's in SS/AAAAAAA. Don't know any more and it isn't listed anywhere as of this hour.
About the track,...... there is no track operator that will ignore efforts to get and keep the best traction they can considering the conditions they are dealt. But, if we can find a drum quick enough we are going to use VHT for my "Last Drag Race" on December 15. We will run a Stock/Super Stock Combo paralleling the SSSSSSSSSSSSA's rules. $1,000 to win, pay back 8 places and silver "Wally" to commemorate our 25 years at the track. www.speedworlddragway.com for complete details. (Qualify Friday, at least 1 more shot Saturday then elims.) |

Division 3 is on VHT ....and I can't believe there has not been more talk about it....there's a huge difference......if it can fix Columbus, it can fix any track.....
Take up a collection.....whatever....just do it..... |
