so no mods need to be done with the main body besides what they give you in the kit? If I run 92 jets squared, what should I start with on E85? How is it on the throttle stop?

Been running E85 for a wile and did my own carb. Be careful with the QF kits as the metering blocks do not have a main well that big enough for a large motor..
With my 540 I have picked up almost .07 and 2 mph and cut my short times by .02... I was running 94 jets with gas and now running 164 alky jets with E85. There is more than just throwing the QF kit at it and seems that it likes less emulsion and smaller holes and also it works better with a 2 circuit carb conversion IMO... Spark plugs are hard to read so be careful.. Price and the cooling effect is all a plus as in the heat of the summer here in NJ I would have 200+* after a run and a extended cool down time now it rarely gets above 190*..This is a plug with a lot of runs on it.. ![]() ![]() Last edited by sg1586; 10-08-2012 at 02:03 PM. Wow ! I ran 94 jets with gas and run 102 with E-85 . I just bolted the Quick Fuel kit on and was happy with the results . Every car I have done it to has picked up at least a tenth in the eighth mile over gasoline. I run it in a 632 and a 555 .

Kinda but not really Tom ..lol I did not change the cam when i changed to E-85,however when I broke a rod I changed the cam during the rebuild. The motor went from the Vette to the Dragster at this time so I dont know what the change did. Current cam is .866 , .808 ....283,304@.050 .

I forgot about the temperatures, mine too runs about 10 deg cooler, a little harder to get it up to 160 compaired to gas.
I havent done much in the way of tuning and testing, but reading you guys, I will be playing with jets soon.

I found starting my burnout at 160 works most consistently . I was starting at 140 and forgot to turn fan on so I continued to start at 160 for the rest of the race and liked it better.

I was thinking about E85 earlier this year, but I had 2 drums of C14 to use up so it kind of went on the back burner.

My lobe separation is 114 . I love paying $3.50 a gallon and only using slightly more fuel . 15-20% more.

Been running E85 for over a year now and had some experience with it. Had some carb problems until I got hooked up with Mark Sullens, he is the best, you can go to his website and get some valuable information on what temp to stage and tuning. E85 does not vaperize till 165 degrees, so you need to be that before you stage. There is alot more to it than just bolting on a E85 converted carb. most agree you don't need to run over 7 pounds of fuel pressure. I buy E85 locally, just be sure and check it with a tester so you know what you are getting. My local station changes content from E85 summer to E75 winter blend. I will buy enough to fill my 55 gallon drum in the summer when they have the true E85.
