I'm gritting my teeth as I type because this has turned political and I don't want to agree with a socialist...LOL..but strictly helmet talk, I agree with Gary. Not that he's right or wrong, I just agree a 15 sec car doesn't need a full sa helmet.

As far as faster cars goes, your going to be stuffing the backend of a slow car in, so wouldn't a higher priority be seatbacks that won't break and fuel cells that won't explode when stuffed up to the rear window? To me, if safety (with regards to the speed differential) is the focus, then protecting rearends of slow cars should be priority as opposed to the difference in open/closed faced helmets.

The other argument is a 15 sec car stuffing into a wall on it's own. Yes in some instances a fullface might help, but not all. A fullface won't protect your windpipe from being crushed by a steering wheel any more than an open face will.
What is the official "crush speed"? And what type of car? If a car will only be going max 80-90mph, is it ok if it's a 65 wagon with lots of crush space but not ok if it's a fwd tin can with no crush space? How about a car with a large interior as opposed to a tight interior?

Somebody came up with a rule that says "up to xx speed or xx ET you must have this" I'll go by that. The option is always there to step up if I want, but that is the minimum.
