Say what you want, but with a mandatory 2016 CAFE rating of 35.5 and a 2025 cafe rating of 53.5, car companies are forced to move toward smaller and more fuel efficient cars. Shure, there will always be a police package or a diesel pickup that will move a mountain. But the rest will be history soon.
But don't worry. The factory has already shown they can still support S/SS with custom cars. The Mustang and Challenger are a prime example. The real question is: Will NHRA exist long enough for S/SS racing to even be a concern for the automakers? As far as the DART, when you invest yourself as heavily as FIAT did to keep CJD alive, maybe you can have a say in what they produce and what they name it. |
