Prob isn't going to matter to any of us "tradional" sportsman racers - they will just replace the Alky cars with something that takes up more track time, makes even less sense, crashes and/or oils the track just as much.....but brings them in more revenue....... read between the lines... its already being done.

Cool Re: No alcohol cars at divisionals in 2012

Just me but if they would cut it to 2 races per Div. you put Div 6 & 7 as west, Div. 4&2 as south , Div 3&5 as midwest & Then have 4 races in Div. 1 as northeast. It would work be easier to promote as "Big Div" races & we just might see better racing between these cars. Like said before though I'm sure the races without these cars they will "fill" with something foolish!.....just my .02 cents

Instead of filling with something foolish they could cut a day out of the event. Have Friday for T&T and Tech Qualify Saturday and race Sunday. Now thats a good idea.

I would think that if they went to a two day event, it would be Friday for qualifying and time runs with the race on Saturday. Sunday would be a travel day back home or used in case of rain on Saturday

Chuck,
That would work also.

In these Hard Times, It's not about what you bring in but how much goes back out.

Then you could guarantee that people would be there to park on Thursday or even Wednesday. With a Saturday-Sunday race, a much smaller number of people would have to miss some (if any) work days.

The only reason we're doing our $5K-$20K-$5K Footbrake race as Fri-Sat is because we're on Thanksgiving weekend, and the holiday allows us to have the best of both worlds with more travel time on Thursday/Friday, AND a rain date/travel day Sunday.

Mike, I'm with you - I wouldn't want to see the Sat qualifying run cut out from the program (unless something else was done: read below). We have a quite a few folks in D1 who at a number of points races have no choice but to show up on Sat due to work, etc. But I'm all for running the entire race on Sat afternoon & evening.

Although.... a number of D1 racers chatted recently about the possiblity of having a late day Qulifying session run on Friday evenings.... (maybe 8 - 9 PM or so) if things were to go a Sat Elims only format..... that way even late comers (i.e. the ones who usually can only show up on Saturdays) could have chance to get on the sheet for Saturday Elims. I don't know if the nhra folks would consider something like that as it would extend their work day on Fridays.... but I really think it could be viable option.

Sunday could still be held in reserve for bad weather.... and also many folks who would have otherwise had to not participate (assuming the format change) would still be able to be included.

Anyway those are my thoughts -

BTW - where is that Thanksgiving weekend Footbrake race being held?
