Default "Live" from Earlville, IA, Division 5 Lucas Oil race

We are on our way! Just a beautiful day for a drive thru the corn fields of Illinois. The forecast looks great for the weekend. Maybe just a little rain on Friday, but with the track dryer they have there, that shouldn't be any problem! Looks like highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s. Just perfect. We should be there by 4 or so. Ya'll come on up!! This is our 2nd favorite track with the 1st being Belle Rose. Lots of real friendly people!

See ya'll there!

Larry don't make it sound so great - LOL

I am already ready lamenting the fact that Andy is there by himself

Man do I wish I could be there but somebody has to work to pay for racing

Andy is excused since he starts his finishing his mechanical engineering degree in a couple of weeks at Cal Poly

I look forward to this thread with great anticipation

Thanks

:-) peace

I never could choose between No Problem and Tri State. About the time I'd decide one was absolutely the best, I'd think of something I'd forgotten about the other.

Please, if you get a chance, post a photo of the track dryer. Those who have never seen it will thank you.

There are so many cool things that Mad Scientist Reid Kuhlman came up with it's amazing. For instance, right behind the water he built a couple of pits covered by sewer grates. If your tires carried rocks, etc. they fall into the pit before they can do any damage. A simple idea but genius.

Dan you got to see the track sweeper/oil spill clean up machine he built.

It has a home made vacuum system, solvent (soap) dispenser and rotating brushes.

I think he made it out of an old combine or maybe a cultivator.

He does have some awesome ideas for sure.

Don't forget the slightly down hill staging lanes so you can just coast, and the slightly uphill shut down area.

Good air, slight downhill slope, and a little tail wind...ooh baby! We think the old Nomad is fixed, so we're hooking up the '56 and '57 and heading toward Earlville.....see 'ya there

I think both tracks are great! we have a blast at the Sportsnats down at No Problem! We will go every time we can!

TriState is awesome too, but they don't run in March! LOL! PRetty easy to have fun at both!

Got to love the downhill staging lanes and all concrete track at Earlville.

They even built it to catch the west tailwind!

About those cookies at the scales--we had probably been here 4 or 5 years before I even knew about the cookies. Larry would eat the evidence before he got back to the trailer.

Well, it is a beautiful, starry night. After cooking country ham outside, we are ready for a good night's rest.

More tomorrow!
