Philip I don't know if you just want some tow hubs or specifically want the Lakewoods, but I did flat tow back in the late 60's with a set I made patterned after the Lakewoods.
I remember using a spindle and bearing setup from a early 50's chevy with a plate welded to the spindle with holes drilled for the bolt pattern for the towed vehicle. I pulled a B stock Chevelle to the races many times with those flat tow hubs. That has been so long ago I do not remember what happened to those. They probably went with the race car when I sold it I just do not remember. Rick Cates |

NMW out of North Jersey used to make towing hubs, along with tow bars and tow tabs.
I don't think they are still in business. There was an article in the mags back then on how to make a set, as Rick described. If I remember correctly, that's a laugh, as I'm now of the age of CRS, they used an early Chevelle front hub and spindle assembly with the appropiate bolt patterned heavy, round plate weled on. They drilled a hole in the Chevelle flange large enough for a socket and extension to get at the inner studs. Here's a link to some pics, they seem to be a lot newer than the Lakewood, NMW days. I don't know anything about them, just passing along a link about the pics. My son was just talking about hubs the other day and was Googling for some pics. http://www.biggerbids.com/archive/au...EHICLE-RV.html |

Phil, it must be your lucky day because I have a pair in excellent condition. I am not sure if they are Lakewood brand but they do still have the original orange paint. Make me an offer I can't refuse either by PM or email me at "stk2031@aol.com"
Bear in mind when you make an offer that I acquired them from the infamous "Joey No Tools" from Long Island! |
