I'm always cautious using the hammer prices at B-J to establish market value, the circus atmosphere affects it too much. After all, they sold a VW van this weekend for $200K-plus! That's COPO money!

There is a very real chance that the owner bought it back if it was a TV sale. If you want your car to auction on TV you have to have a "no reserve" sale, but B-J does let you bid on it and buy your own car back if it doesn't bring what you want. They only charge you the seller's fees, and waive the buyer's fee.

I personally would NEVER buy or sell a vehicle at an auction because of all the fee's involved in the first place.

I went back yesterday (Saturday) with my wife and we watched some
of the auction action. There was a Mustang Vert, custom with blower motor, that was built to raise money for Darrel Guinn's (sp?) foundation to raise money for wheelchairs for kids and it only went for $105K and it stalled at $100K for quite a while. And then the "big" money spent on the VW's.

Hopefully the seller took it in the shorts.I'm sure Mr Johnson has no intention of using the car for it's intended purpose. As far as market value does this mean all the guys who bought factory racecar mustangs paid wayyy too much for them?:>):>)
