Ezra Beachy told me he built a 70 Olds 442 455 for Super Stock and he couldnt get it to run the index no matter what he tried. (Yes before the head porting rule). Then he put it all back together for stock class and it ran way under. Those engine with the 6 degree?? valve angle just dont like to flow with RPM like you need to make power on the top. There is a reason they were the premiere engine for tree stump puller applications. Small bore, big stroke, small heads=average horsepower, high torque not what you need in Super Stock. Pontiacs are bad enough, Buicks with their big bore smaller strokes are better.
