I am glad someone has the foresight to even consider such a decision. It would be a shame to tow 6 hours and watch it rain and sit while water percolates up through the track, not to mention the soggy pits.

I run MG on a weekly basis and obviously was there yesterday. It had rained all week previously and we had NO water issues on the track. I know a lot of time & $$$ were spent in the off season to prevent problems like we had last year. Kudos to Lex and his crew. The field was firm but soggy - it won't take much more. And I know the cost of gas and the hardship it causes the sportman racer is on Lex's mind. But it's a D-1 race so it's a joint decision - time will tell.

In my day job, I deal w/ Asphalt and Dirt Oval Tracks and Sanctioning bodies across the country. The practice of proactive schedule adjustments based on weather and track conditions has been in place for years. It's rooted in common sense business practices that respect their Customers - the Racers and Fans (aka. revenue stream). They realized a while ago that there was nothing to gain by pretending that the weather and track problems didn't exist, and that everyone concerned would be better in the long run by making the go/no-go decision ahead of time. Maple Grove has always been one of the more progressive thinking tracks - it's no surprise to see it continue to put the customer first.

Of course, if they do cancel on Tuesday and it turns out to be a beautiful weekend, there won't be any complaints that they canceled needlessly and should have waited, right?
