I think it has to do more with water issues with the track surface again. Totally agree ....gas is outrageous...I for one am much more critical on throwing my money away these days for a divisional or national event than in the past...just not worth it.....sometimes you just have to say NO !!!

I am glad someone has the foresight to even consider such a decision. It would be a shame to tow 6 hours and watch it rain and sit while water percolates up through the track, not to mention the soggy pits.

I run MG on a weekly basis and obviously was there yesterday. It had rained all week previously and we had NO water issues on the track. I know a lot of time & $$$ were spent in the off season to prevent problems like we had last year. Kudos to Lex and his crew. The field was firm but soggy - it won't take much more. And I know the cost of gas and the hardship it causes the sportman racer is on Lex's mind. But it's a D-1 race so it's a joint decision - time will tell.

In my day job, I deal w/ Asphalt and Dirt Oval Tracks and Sanctioning bodies across the country. The practice of proactive schedule adjustments based on weather and track conditions has been in place for years. It's rooted in common sense business practices that respect their Customers - the Racers and Fans (aka. revenue stream). They realized a while ago that there was nothing to gain by pretending that the weather and track problems didn't exist, and that everyone concerned would be better in the long run by making the go/no-go decision ahead of time. Maple Grove has always been one of the more progressive thinking tracks - it's no surprise to see it continue to put the customer first.

Of course, if they do cancel on Tuesday and it turns out to be a beautiful weekend, there won't be any complaints that they canceled needlessly and should have waited, right?

If you join the group you can win as much if not more at an ASRA race that you can at a divisional, and the best part is you don't give up any work time to play! Just "click-to-link" the ASRA logo further down the page and check-out the new web site, race dates and "Great Sponsors" on-board for 2011! BTW we like Locksmiths & Yankee fans! Greg |

Jack, I'm not going to name names but it was a full time Maple Grove employee who I've known for over thirty years. Ultamately is Bob's decision but I'm just glad to hear that at least there is discussion rather than just bringing everyone in to sit around. I live 40 minutes from the track, I'll be there but I'd rather be there to race not just exercise my trailer. |

1)Look at the weather forcast for the next 10 days for Mohnton Pa.
2)I wish I had access to a H/D wrecker.Let's see, extract a motorhome/Renegade and stacker from the "field",at $100 a pop?Wow,instant racing budget for 2011,and maybe enough left over for an engine puff up for 2012.
