It is starting to flow over the levee in West Carroll parish and will probably breach soon. I am not affected because I live in the hills west of the Ouachita river however everything between the Mississippi river and the Ouachita river is in danger. My sister in law farms in West Carroll and is in danger of being in 5ft. of water. After what happened in New Orleans anything appears possible. In 1929 there was water all the way from the Mississippi to the Ouachita. It's all flat land and about 70 miles wide. I am not sure how long the area is.

The Morganza Floodway is open. Four bays so far going to about 30 of 125. This will allow 3 times the flow of Niagra Falls in the floodway. Drove to Morgan City yesterday, took pictures of the mile wide Atchafalya River which is at 7' on the gage. The 20' floodwalls (from sea level) are closed and the river is against them, prediction is to go to 13' at that point. The backwater flooding that will come from south of Morgan City on the east side of the levee of the Morganza Floodway will work it's way back east and north. North is No Problem, but threre are about 40 miles of swamp, lakes, roads etc, but it is one continuous swamp. Anyone who has been to No Problem, the turn near the track where the very large pipeline junction is, if you drive about 1/4 mile past the turn, the swamp is literally surrounds the highway from that point south to the gulf. No Problem lies on the thousand years old delta from when the Mississippi was about 4 miles north of the track.
We all should be ok, but concerned. 4 to 8 days for the water to get here. More as it rises.

Drove over the Bonnet Carrere Spillway under I10 today. Looks like a 100 fold of the Snake River during spring thaw. That is the opening just north of New Orleans. There is a lot of water going thru there. The other Floodway, the Morganza water has reached I10 between Baton Rouge and Lafayette, LA. The actual forcast is a little better, so we are hoping for the best.
