Mr Tech man,
You are correct. I am an Idiot and am not worthy of even posting on this subject. You are and forever will be the one and only authority on NHRA S/SS racing. I apologize for even having you put forth the effort to type a reply. I will make it my lifelong journey to be able to carry your lunchbox one day. See you at the races, Wayne Kerr |

But what I dont understand is WHY does everyone get upset when I say ANYTHING about the truth of the bogus HP ratings and the sham that Ford, Chrysler (and no doubt GM if they had a car) has made of stock eliminator? Get over it....I didnt do it nor can I change the fact that its all a joke unless NHRA gets their act together. . Just stating facts as I really dont care one way or the other anymore. I guess I just love to piss off these new car owners as a hobby ! I just laugh when one of these combos goes to fast and gets hit by the AHFS then the squeeling begins. I guess the truth hits home and it dosent go down easy or up depending on your position. Going fast means NOTHING with these cars other than the fact that you like to spend money that you dont have (well some anyway) to buy parts that you dont need to try to impress people you dont really like ! Enjoy your $4 a gallon trips to the circus.

Yeah.....Not often enough but thats the way NHRA wants it. Other wise the amount under the index hit would have been set lower. Just wait until INDY.....LOL. Better yet make it again like in the past that only class winners get to run for the eliminator.

Being that there is no 7.0 weight break in Stock Eliminator, technically, "move down (heavier) one class" would apply to any car with a weight break of 7.49 or lower. Going by the rulebook, the next highest class for a car with a weight break of 7.01, 6.99 or 6.49 is 7.50 to 7.99 (AA). People seem to be saying that the car is no longer allowed in Stock because its weight break is lower than 7.0 but that's making an assumption of a fictitious 7.0 to 7.49 class. Reading only from the rulebook, the CJ, or any car with a weight break of under 7.49 can add weight and get the car into AA. No?

The way the CJ will get kicked out of Stock is the added ballast rule. Since a car can vary only a certain amount from its shipping weight, if the HP factor becomes so high that in order for the CJ to make class weight at 7.5 # per HP, it has to add more weight than the rules allow, it can no longer run Stock.

There is no rule for permanent ballast in Stock Eliminator. General Regulations set ballast limit at 500 pounds. With a shipping weigh of 3240, the CJ would have to be rated at 499 horsepower for the general ballast rule to take effect. That is, if the car is naturally 3240 pounds.
