its bad, i never seen so many 1000 ft and over weight runs in my life, but its all in how bad do you want to be #1, i think what $100 to be #1 if your lucky and might cost you a couple thousand in long run, not a good trade off.
I look at it this way, they (NHRA) made the rules for this deal and the players are just playing the deal.

Talking to Bobby Dennis tonight he had no idea he would go the 1 under, his deal figured a -95 run.

That's what I figured. I'm waiting to see what happens in Belle Rose with the singles.
That is going to be interesting.. I'm glad you will be there to give an unbiased view.
If the finances were better. I'd take a trip to spectate, But we would have to pass Biloxi. And my wife would insist on stopping there.

The NHRA doesn't want to deal with SS and stockers as they are trying to limit their expenses and generate more revenue. The less people they have to pay for SSer and stocker monitoring the better, so policing will be at a minimum in regards to their budget. The business office will surely look at their SPC charts and cut the program out if it's becoming too much of a problem. Your best bet is to start a SS and Stocker sanctioning body (and create your own rules) to help the NHRA and IHRA out and make everyone perform volunteer work and police others if they want to race.

You have a point but the problem is the a$$holes with their own interests at heart.
How many people on here have actually posted in defense of someone elses interests?
They bitch there are to many classes in one post, then cry to add classes for the new cars in another.
They want the index hit just enough as to not effect them.
They want rules changes that helps them, but doesn't effect others.
Thats why what you posted will never work.

I know it'd still give people some leeway within their class, but didn't they institute the "maximum weight" this year? (ie., if you weigh more than the next lower class, you have to run that class)

Wanna stop this stuff?Put a tech person on each side of the track at 1100' during qualifying. You drop it at1000' twice during qualifying you go to tear down.If you
weight more than the next class down once, barn visit.
If they try to drag the brakes at 1000',barn visit. Not easy to catch, but doable.
Not showing the qualifying sheet till after the last qualifyer is good too.
Nomex underwear will be worn on return to site.
