Greg,
Clay City spectator count was way down last year. I'm sure they lost their butt espically paying the booked in show for the 4th of July weekend. Look at the amount that has to be paid out for a Pro Am weekend vs. a bracket weekend. Don't be surprised if they don't have a Bracket weekend on the 4th of July and schedule the ProAm another weekend. The local bracket racers will fill the place and the track will be profitable. I enjoyed going to Clay City on the 4th of July. I went 2 times and got 2 wins and a R/u. The fans were great too.
I missed it last year because Piedmont had 2-5k races and a 10-k. It was only 90 miles from the house. That being said All divisions have less races this year 1) Because nobody is making money on them and wants to continue. 2) I was told less races should increase the car counts at the exsisting races. Chip,
Don't know if I agree with #2 or not. Look at the Div. 3 schedule. For us most of the races are 6 to 7 hr trip. The motorhome gets 5 mpg to haul my car and does not include Zac getting to the tracks. Fuel costs alone may be enough to keep some teams from going. The situation for the Pro Ams is tough. If car counts were higher tracks would be lining up to host an event. The economy has much to do with this. Jeff Ross |

Jeff,
I agree. Just posting what I was told. This year will be tougher than last if gas goes to 4 bucks a gallon like they are saying. It went up 12 cent a gallon here last week. Chip |

One of our "friends",the Kuwati oil minister said it Americans could stand $100 a barrel oil.Maybe the next time Kuwait is overrun by more mid east cockroaches we can tell him he could stand being overrun and not to expect any help from us.
