Hi Ed, I have spent the last 2 years putting together a 1970 Nova for stock eliminator. I joined this post a few months ago to get a feel of what goes on in the class and what the future holds for class racing. The car is completely ready minus engine. The whole project is on hold because of what happened with fake stockers brought to you by Chrysler and Ford. Trust me ,it is not for lack of money because I have money by not throwing it down black holes. I have bracket raced cars in the 70's and walked away when electronics entered the picture. I also have a talent in bowling-----made some good money bowling amateur tournaments from New York to Vegas. Oh, BTW , I drove a F/G Corvette for almost a season before NHRA took all that away. My first love is still cars , unfortunately I see stock class racing as a eliminator in big trouble and all you people do is look down at bracket racers. Well, unless you people make a stand and be heard, the bracket racers will still be racing but stock class racers will restoring their cars for car shows.
Hey, I may not be completely right but this is what I see from being on the outside for awhile. Outside looking in ! Sometimes you have to step out of the box to see what is really going on inside. I want stock racing to continue and I would support a united front anyway I can. This is just my opinion as I can choose to sell my car or go bracket racing but I know of the time and investment some of you already have in your cars. There are decisions to be made. So , yes Ed I have stake in the future of class racing or I can walk away .----------------John

Jack, your right they didn't care, don't care either. It seems to me that I didn't see that many of them in the winners circle once class runs were over. The racers are still going to race and the non-racers are still going to @*#&#@*. So it is what it is, race or not it will go on.
Just my thoughts.

But we all saw what happened on the S/SS Forum when that happened.
There ALREADY is such a board on this site. as Bill Dedman has pointed out before.
The last time anybody posted on it was Bob Bender on June 8,2010 !!!

You may not have to worry about it at Pomona, there is a new post on
the board today stating that Stock is not listed for Pomona in Feb??

Since I am only a bracket racer I do not have the ability to look at the
entry list for Pomona...yet to see if that statement is true or not.

I absolutely think that the NHRA has done a poor job of dealing with the new cars thus far. Why be afraid of more classes? Why not have a "Late Model" designation to replace the old "FI"? I know it's up to the NHRA to decide but it is an honest question. I hope they're still working on it but I'm not going to quit racing while I wait. The new cars do not take away from the basic pleasures of racing Stock. My kids can still see their old man race, burnoffs, C12 burning and fresh engine paint "curing" still smell great, and we still get to race at National Events where thousands of spectators and even the pros still look at our cars. Stock is, after all, one of the hardest classes in all motor sports. Just passing tech is still a major accomplishment, even the pros know that. Building a car that will go a second under from scratch is a huge point of pride that can never be taken away. Also I just love hanging out with my Stock Eliminator family.

Happy Holidays!
