IHRA has a different piston rule for stock in the last several years. Only the top (combustion chamber side) of the piston has to "LOOK" correct when viewed from an assembled short block. The dish/dome still have to measure correct. They dont care what it is like below the deck (moved rings, thinner ring pack, lite pins, lite pistons, valve relief location and depth, etc.). They DO NOT want to look at a piston and rod out of the engine. Sometimes they do want to have an oil pan removed to eyeball the crank.
