ok I tow with a brand new Dually and a 39ft gold rush trailer with a Golf cart inside with race car . I have two to three full time maids, cleaning up after me and room service if I want with diner at various spots in the City I race at . The places I stay at cost any where from 40 to 100 million dollars to build . I get to have a full shower with fresh bed with great air condition and even have a special wake up call at these special resorts complete with pool and most of the time a neat restaurant .
I don;t always have this luxury of staying at a multimillion resort but I don't have to worry about extra insurance , extra expenses to keep up a motor home or maintence ,or a cdl or scales or worrying about roads all we do is just have fun .

Michael Beard, you left out that "why" you make $$$$$$$$$$$$$ is that you are a HELL of a RACER/ DRIVER.
Started with a TOW BAR [ early 70's] Moved to open trailer [last 70's] Then a drive on [EMMONS still has my ramp truck] ['83] Went back to open trailer. ['87] 32 ft Living qtrs. gooseneck [ '92] Purchased a new home gooseneck didn't want to back up driveway Then came 1st motor home[24ft] with 26ft Pace enclosed [ '94] Then came 28ft Pace and 2nd motor home [32ft] Then I had BRIGHT Ideal of racing [2] cars. Already owned both then came 28 ft stacker from Performax. 3rd motor home 2004 Endeavor with 400 HP if that wasn't enough My buddy gets out of racing and I buy his Freightliner Motor home but still have 28 ft stacker. I would not like to tow with another motor home. Will always you a truck type motor home for towing. Point is "JSL" I choose to spend my $$$$$$$$$$ on what makes me happy and comfortable. My daughter love the truck motorhome while we are traveling and at the track. Point of this is you have to be happy in what you do. Trust me I have sold out a couple of times and it cheapter to just keep most of everything that has to do with racing if considering quitting.

A counter to my own argument. A lot of people sitting in those pits are likely quite upside down in their "rigs". While there are plenty of people that race that own what they have, there are plenty of people that live beyond their means. What you're seeing in racing is just a microcosm of the big issue our society has with living beyond their means.
I know I always look at prices for rigs every few months, in case I get the itch again. I see prices dropping big time. |

Good point. Can also add, many of these rigs are likely "owned" by racers whom own businesses or have livelyhoods that can support such items. My wife's boss is an excellant example of this. He races circle track dirt cars. My wife takes care of the books, he funnels a lot of the racing stuff through his business. I can't count how many different trucks and trailers he's gone through. Right now, he's running off his father-in-laws equipment. He's uses all this as a write off. If you're in a financial position to do it this way, I can't blame anyone. I'm just not in that kind of situation, I have to pay my own way. Until the finances say I can, I won't be in an enclosed rig anytime soon. Right now the money is better spent prepping the cars.
